Charger Mod for TYT MD-2017

I modified the charger cradle for my TYT MD-380 series radios as noted here

The new dual band TYT MD-2017 DMR radio has the same charger base as the MD-390 (which is different than the 380) and in my opinion, has the same annoying bright LED, so I modified this charger too, but had to make the following changes:

  • The MD-2017 charger LED is dual polarity red/green and flips polarity between the two pins instead of using 2 separate LEDs or one with 3 legs with one common per red or green.

  • I swapped out the original dual red/green LED for just one red one that requires slightly higher voltage so that it appears dimmer in my charger.

Here is the final result:
