The Overlook Mountain Amateur Radio Club, a not-for-profit tax exempt 501(c)(3), is an ARRL (American Radio Relay League) affiliated organization in the Eastern New York section of the Hudson Division which primarily serves Ulster County, New York. OMARC strongly supports the basic ARRL principle “To promote and advance the art, science and enjoyment of Amateur Radio.” All amateur radio operators and others interested in amateur radio are welcome to attend monthly meetings and apply for membership.  

Weekly on-the-air nets are conducted and open to all licensed radio amateur operators to participate. Public service is provided through participation in ARES, the Amateur Radio Emergency Service and RACES, the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service as well as the National Weather Service and SKYWARN ® program. OMARC supports the amateur radio community and the FCC by providing ARRL accredited Volunteer Examiners and hosting examination opportunities for candidates to become licensed and upgrade their license class. OMARC provides education to the general public at no charge in formal classes to provide the knowledge and skills required to become a licensed amateur radio operator. 

OMARC installs and maintains repeaters for use by the amateur radio community in the area including the designated RACES, ARES and SKYWARN ® repeater for Ulster County, NY. The club Participates in contests to enhance technical knowledge and improve team operating skills. 

 

OMARC also takes part in annual ARRL Field Day events to promote education, public relations and enjoyment of amateur radio.
